writing, writing, writing…
Treat yourself to this month’s 40th anniversary issue of FILTER MAGAZINE! We were included in “Discovering the Undiscovered,” and friends Warpaint and Shannyn Sossamon are a part of the issue as well!
We got a nice little write-up by Lee Levin over at Knox Road! (You can download our song “Ghost” while you read!)
Spring Summer interviewed for Anthem Magazine! Check it out here!
Such a cliche but oh — April in Paris!
“Mountaineer” LIVE at La CIGALE
As it turns out the first overseas show will be tomorrow night’s sold-out show at La Cigale, Paris!!! I’m opening for the Australian Pop Artist Micky Green. Will be quite the warm-up for my tiny little show wednesday night at Le Baron.
So the show at Pieter Pasd was wonderful! I loved seeing my sister (Amanda Furches as she probably prefers to be called) and Erin Beneze perform their new dance piece. It was such a treat to feel like a part of something special happening! And, as always, I had a lot of fun playing some songs.
Now I’m in Paris and will be playing here next wednesday (April 7th) at Le Baron! It’s the first overseas Spring Summer show and I can’t wait!!!! If you (or anyone you know) wants to come please contact me to get on the list!
A brand new video, directed by Roman Coppola!
We have a great show coming up at HOTEL CAFE TUESDAY MARCH 23rd:
Spring Summer and Patrick Park. A few of us from Spring Summer will be playing in Patrick’s band, too!
Patrick’s new record will be released next month but is available for pre-order here (and it is SO good)!
I’m playing solo at a house party tonight, with Ben and Bruno, Aaron Beckum and Elephant Micah. Should be all kinds of hollywood fun.
Thank you to all who made it out to the Bootleg show. We had the best time! Also a big thanks to John the excellent sound man!!
So many great things have been happening! Thanks to Kevin Bronson at Buzzbands.LA for the nice write-up (check it out for a free download of “First Time Around”) AND for playing “Fort Davis” on his first show back at Indie 103!!
We also had a feature in this month’s MF Magazine (page 19).
Just posted a new video here for “First Time Around,” directed by Roman Coppola. We wanted it to be something simple that went with the song and we had a lot of fun making it!
And yesterday we had the chance to make ANOTHER video with Roman, shot by John Schwartzman. Patrick and Matt came down, as did a special someone. I can’t wait for you all to see it!
I was asked to curate a little acoustic night at the Cactus Lounge this wednesday. I’m excited to play but REALLY excited to see some great music from Aaron Beckum, Aska and BB (Ben and Bruno). You should come! (its FREE!) 8-10pm.
From Aska and Becky’s first ‘Miracle’ show yesterday:
We had a great time!
Thanks to all who made it out to Bar Lubitsch on Wednesday. Though we ran into some sound issues those nice guys over there are definitely working out all their kinks and I think it’s going to be a great venue. (And it definitely helped to see so many friendly faces in the crowd!) We’ll be posting some videos from the show so check back soon.
Update–a couple pics by Brent Mullins:
First bit of news in the new year—it’s going to be a good one I know it!
We have a couple shows coming up–both with a very different atmosphere that should prove for some fun times. Jan 6th (this wed) at Bar Lubitsch. It’s the first of many for Nassir’s new night here and I’m happy to be invited to play. There’s a comedy show gearing up at 8pm so come early for some laughs. We go on 10:30 sharp. I’m so excited to say the wonderful Dustin O’Halloran will be joining us on the piano, as well as Patrick Park. I can’t wait.
Then on the 17th look out for a Variety show curated by Aska Matsumiya and Becky Stark at Space 1520 in Hollywood. Just in time for the farmers market (1-4pm). We’re playing a few songs with strings and banjo–plus I hear there’s a magician!!
And thank you so much to KCRW and Gary Calamar of Morning Becomes Eclectic for playing our song “I Don’t Want you to Stay.” What a way to start off the year!
Happy Holidays! It’s been a great trip home. The Wherehouse show with our special holiday line-up went great! Thanks to all for coming. So so nice to see so many old friends.
The Pehrspace show was so fun!
I’m headed back to my hometown of Winston-Salem, NC for the holidays and will be playing at least one show. I can’t wait. If you’re nearby please come! Next wednesday (23rd) at The Werehouse. Jimmy Jolliff of Brother Reade is sitting in on the drums as well as some pals from the good old days!
New shows for December! I’ll be playing solo Wed the 16th at The Standard Hollywood with Micky Adams, and with full band Sat the 20th at Pehrspace in Echo Park with Familiar Trees, NOPAL, and one more TBD. This one’s presented by the LA Underground and an early one–starts at 5pm (we play 3rd). We’ll have records for sale at both so come on out.
I had a great time on GTFU last monday hanging out with old friends and playing songs with my old band-mate Tod Wisenbaker of Whispertown 2000. For those who missed it, the show is archived on the web.
My amazing friends over at Dublab invited me to be part of their Vision Version series, where they make live videos of local musicians around los angeles. Fernando Cardenas directed mine on a beautiful fall day in Elysian Park. Check it out here, but don’t forget to visit the Dublab and Vision Version sites for LOTS more great stuff!!
Hello all! Still working on getting this site up and running but some news:
